Punished

At eighty nine
I still have the capacity
to greatly enjoy my life.

But the age factor
causes forgetting names,
forever searching for
mislaid papers and pills.

I am being punished,
punishing myself,
feeling guilty for
not being what I was
only a short while ago.

On top of it all
I am punished by my loving,
most beloved ones,
unable to accept reality,
that I ceased to be so perfect.
