In my golden years
I found the luxury
To immerse myself in song
And dance and poetry.
1 found the joy of having time
To write a poem
And also work
For justice and peace.
But I know that across the seas
The bombs are blasting
And everywhere
Kids are starving
Our planet is dying
And nuclear arms are poised
To bring about our final days.
How can I reconcile my golden years
With these realities?
If I join my small efforts
With those around me,
Can we create
A new world of peace?
