Fog

Did you ever live in London
When multitudes of chimneys befouled the winter air
With clouds of yellow fog
So thick – you could not see the way?
You knew it well, you walked it every day.
Is this the turning I should take?
Or have I lost my way?
At last the air begins to clear
And I am left with memories of fear.
